Throughout Advent - 17th December Advent Food Hampers St Matthew's Westminster
During Advent St Matthew's will be again supporting In Deep, a charity which collects food hampers and distributes them to the local and housebound. We are asking for your help with this: please bring in dried or canned food (no perishables) during the week or on Sunday, any day until the 17th December when In Deep will collect the food packages.
Tuesday 1st December, 6pm An evening with Joanna Lumley St Mary-le-Strand
The National Churches Trust are sponsoring this evening with Joanna Lumley in which she will talk about her love for this historic church building, which she finds particularly intriguing. There will be a wine reception afterwards. Further details are on the website here. Numbers are limited for this special occasion so book early to avoid disappointment.
Wednesday 2nd December, 6pm An Evening of Poetry with Paula Gooder and Malcolm Guite St Matthew's Westminster
Sharing insights from her latest book, Journey to the Manger, Paula Gooder leads us through the genealogies, prophecies, births and the aftermaths of the Advent story. Interwoven through it all we hear a poet's response to the texts as Malcolm Guite reads from his Advent anthology, Waiting on the Word. Tickets are £5, available here or in Church House bookshop.
Sunday 6th December, 11am Bring a Friend to Church Sunday St Matthew's Westminster
As part of our shared mission we are keeping this as a special day when we are all encouraged to invite a friend to join us for the Sunday Mass. It is an opportunity to introduce them to the Christian faith and the life of St Matthew’s. The guest preacher will be Canon Jeremy Davies.
