Sunday 10th December, 7.45pm Christmas Baroque and Carols St Stephen's, Rochester Row
On the 10th December, the English Baroque Choir are showcasing some of the finest choral music of that period: Durante's Magnificat, a Christmas cantata by Bach's boyhood hero, Buxtehude, and a sparkling setting of In Dulci Jubilo by Scheidt all feature accompaniment by a specially invited string group. Further festive fayre includes music by Sweelinck, Gabrieli, Praetorius and Bach. More familiar second-half items will include carols for everyone to sing. The stirring finale is Vaughan Williams's much-loved Fantasia, joined by baritone soloist Bruce Russell. Mulled wine and mince pies provided!
