Founded in 1854, we are a small, inner city school for children from 3-11 years old, tucked away in the heart of Westminster right behind the church.
Although small in size, with about 200 children, we are international in outlook celebrating that our children come from over 40 different countries.
Our school community fosters the special ethos that makes us renowned for the care we provide for each individual. We value all of our children and staff and work together to provide an excellent education. We care about the academic, personal, moral and spiritual enrichment of each child.
The links between church and school are particularly strong. The Vicar is Chair of Governors and the Church’s Pastoral Assistants spend time each day in school, assisting staff and children and providing an invaluable pastoral link for families with the church.
There is a Breakfast Club and an After School Club and the pastoral assistants from St Matthew's Church run The Guild of St Nicholas which helps the children to gain a deeper understanding of the Church and engage with our local community, and each term there are a number of special services held in church. In the Autumn Term in the juniors children may be admitted to Communion.
If you would like to receive more information, wish to help support the school, or arrange a visit then please contact us.
We are very proud of our school and are delighted to share in the life of the St Matthew’s community.
