Ash Wednesday
St Matthew's Westminster

All Christians are encouraged to attend Mass on Ash Wednesday, to help start Lent in fellowship with all Christians. On Ash Wednesday, Mass will be held at 8am, 9.15am, 12.30pm, and there will be a Solemn Mass at 7pm.

Staying Power: The Charles Gore Lecture 
The Staying Power of Benedict in Parliament Square
Westminster Abbey

Speaker: Most Reverend and Rt Hon Lord (Rowan) Williams
Chair: The Very Reverend Dr John Hall
Staying Power offers a series of seminars, dialogues and lectures to the Abbey’s neighbours on the Square and beyond, as a rich and nourishing resource for their public life and service. Tickets for all events are free, but booking is essential.  Click here for more information Priority will be given to public servants.

This year we are joining with our neighbours at St Stephen’s Rochester Row for a course looking at three key themes of our faith through the vehicle of film.  The films will be shown at St Matthew’s, followed a week later by discussion at St Stephen’s.  If you are unable to join us for the showing of the film, copies are available to borrow from the church office.

Prayers on the Move
Westminster Abbey to Trafalgar Square​

A prayer walk through the city of Westminster starting at Westminster Abbey and ending at Trafalgar Square, stopping off at some major landmarks on the way and discussing prayer and spirituality in the modern world. Speakers include the Bishop of London and Seth Pinnock.  Meet at the forecourt area by the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey. The route is wheelchair accessible but does require crossing a couple of roads.  All children to be supervised by adults. ​Prayers on the Move  http://prayersonthemove.com is a campaign to encourage people to give prayer a go and is supported by the London Diocese.

Finding the Words for Prayer
St Matthew's Westminster

Canon Jeremy Davies, former Precentor of Salisbury Cathedral, will be leading a series of addresses in church exploring prayer and imagination every Thursday from 1pm throughout Lent. The first address will be on praying through liturgy, poetry, and prose.

Monday 29th February, 6.15-8.30pm
ONE extra DAY to celebrate Growing Older With God 
Central Hall Westminster

An evening Service of Celebration to celebrate the Leap of Faith that started MHA, the leading charity providing a range of care services for older people across the UK. With Revd John Bell, Graham Kendrick and Revd Stephen Gaukroger – as well as BBC Songs of Praise presenter, Pam Rhodes. This is a free event but booking is essential.

There is also a Day Conference before the Service with keynote speakers Dame Esther Rantzen; Dr Anna Dixon, CEO of The Centre for Ageing Better; and Alison Holt, BBC Social Affairs Correspondent. < More details >

Christians Together in Westminster
​"Meet the Neighbours"
Salvation Army, Regent Hall, Oxford Street

The evening will include an act of worship together, a short talk about the history of Regent Hall and the Salvation Army, music (opportunity to hear the Regent Hall Band playing), and refreshments.  “Meet the Neighbours” events are always very interesting and happy occasions, and an opportunity to find out more about other churches. All are most welcome to come along.

The Crucifixion on Victoria Street
Methodist Central Hall to Westminster Abbey

Participants are asked to gather for this annual walk of witness at 11.45am outside Methodist Central Hall, ready to leave at 12 noon for the procession along Victoria Street between Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral.​​

Julian Prayer Group
