Monday 4th December, 6.30pm The Nativity at Night The Rochester Room, Grange Rochester Hotel
On the 4th December, Marc Woodhead, who teaches at both the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, will be leading a talk on the famous painting The Nativity at Night by Geertgen tot Sint Jans, as part of their 'Slow Art in Advent' series.
Sunday 10th December, 7.45pm Christmas Baroque and Carols St Stephen's, Rochester Row
On the 10th December, the English Baroque Choir are showcasing some of the finest choral music of that period: Durante's Magnificat, a Christmas cantata by Bach's boyhood hero, Buxtehude, and a sparkling setting of In Dulci Jubilo by Scheidt all feature accompaniment by a specially invited string group. Further festive fayre includes music by Sweelinck, Gabrieli, Praetorius and Bach. More familiar second-half items will include carols for everyone to sing. The stirring finale is Vaughan Williams's much-loved Fantasia, joined by baritone soloist Bruce Russell. Mulled wine and mince pies provided!
Monday 22nd January 6.30pm Creation Care - Churches Together in Westminster AGM Salvation Army Regent Hall
Displays and talks will be led by organisations involved with conservation and environmental awareness, including Eco Church, Shrinking the Footprint, ASWA and Green Christian. Refreshments will be provided. All are very welcome.
